Who we are

Africa looses the sum of $48billion annually due to high post-harvest losses, and also about $35billion is spent annually on food importation. - UN

Nigeria wastes food worth $750billion yearly as 30-40% of the many foods produced are ultimately wasted - FMARD

Studies commissioned by FAO before the pandemic estimate that on-farm losses in sub-Saharan Africa for fruits and vegetables are up to 50 percent, the highest in the world.

Thus, the problem is not about food production as we over-produce foodsIn Nigeria, like other developing countries, food crops are wasted immediately after harvesting. They are either left on the farms to rot or they get spoilt, especially perishable foods, while they are being transported to the markets or when they are not stored properly. The country records huge losses of tomatoes, pepper, millet, maize, vegetables and a lot of fruits. About 80-90 percent of farmers in this community grow these crops and they try to sell their products at the same time but there are not enough buyers and they eventually waste.
